My True Love Gave to Me (Out October 14th!)
Hey everyone, My True Love Gave to Me hits bookstores Tuesday, October 14th!
This anthology (edited by Stephanie Perkins) has 12 long stories written by an incredible collection of YA authors: me, Rainbow Rowell, David Levithan, Holly Black, Kelly Link, Gayle Forman, Myra McEntire, Kiersten White, Jenny Han, Ally Carter and Laini Taylor. I just finished reading the stories myself and I gotta say, this is really good stuff. It’s already received an incredible FOUR STARRED REVIEWS. For an anthology. That’s pretty wild.
My story is called “Angels in the Snow,” and it’s the first YA piece I’ve ever set in Brooklyn. It also marks a slight shift in the kind of narrator I’m interested in writing. The protagonist is still mixed race and from the bario, but he’s slightly more sophisticated. I’m using this same voice in the new YA I’ve just started working on. So, this story is a good example of what I’m going to be writing for the next couple years. “Angels in the Snow” also focuses on love. With a touch of lust. And hunger. And loss. I’d love to hear what you think.
