On November 12th, The Living hits bookstores.
This is very exciting to me. I’ve never spent so much time working on a novel, and I’m very proud of the way it turned out. The protagonist, Shy Espinoza, is my guy.
If you’d like to get a sneak peek of Shy and The Living, Random House has put together this sampler:
The Living is about a seventeen-year-old kid (the aforementioned Shy) who takes a summer job working on a cruise ship. While he’s out on only his second voyage, an earthquake pummels California creating a massive tsunami that destroys Shy’s cruise ship and catapults him into the dark, churning ocean. From this point on, The Living is a story of survival. With a little awkward romance mixed in. And a mystery that hovers over the entire story.
I’d be honored it if you’d consider pre-ordering a copy of the novel before it’s officially released on November 12th.

Last but not least, I’m also offering a chance to win a free, personalized set of ALL my books (Ball Don’t Lie, Mexican WhiteBoy, We Were Here, I Will Save You, A Nation’s Hope, Curse of the Ancients and The Living). All you have to do to enter is help me get the word out about The Living by posting about it on your Facebook page (tagging me) between now and November 12th. (Make sure you tag me, though, or else I might not see it.) The most interesting post (selected by me and my cat, Annie) will win the set of personalized books. (Warning, Annie has unique taste, so feel free to announce The Living in your own unique way.)
I will announce the winner here on my blog and on Facebook at the end of the day on November 12th. And I will contact you directly for the address you’d like me to use for the books.
Thanks so much for your support! I hope you like Shy’s story!
